My Family:

I have lived on Colborne Street in the heart of Thornhill's Heritage Core since 1996. My husband Dave and I have been married for 25 years and have two daughters Julia 19, and Carolyn 14. Julia is in her third year at York University. Carolyn is in Grade 9 at St. Robert Catholic High School. Carolyn has been active playing house league soccer in the Thornhill Soccer Club for the last 6 years along with Dave who has been coaching. My husband is a member of the Thornhill Lion's. Our family includes our rescued dogs, cats and guinea pig who were adopted from animal shelters.

My Educational Background:
I have a Bachelor of Arts degree from Ryerson University, 1979.

I achieved my Competent Toastmasters from Toastmasters International in 2006. I am a founding member of the Town of Markham's Toastmaster's Club. During my term as President of "Markham's Talk of the Town" Toastmasters, our club earned the "President's Distinguished Award".

Valerie, with Toastmasters "President's Distinguished Club" ribbon earned during her term as President (2005-2006) of the "Talk of the Town" Toastmasters.

Hobbies:
I enjoy camping in Algonquin Park, gardening, quilting and spending time with my family and pets.
